KEY POINTS:
An 18-year-old mother who was electrocuted after crashing her car into a power pole in Marlborough on Saturday has been named.
Samantha Hemi, from Blenheim, died after stepping out of her vehicle after the crash on to a live wire on Cravens Rd near Spring Creek.
Her six-month-old daughter and her 19-year-old sister and her two children, aged three and seven months, who were also in the car survived.
Constable Ian Mills of Blenheim police said both women had touched a live wire while getting the children out of the car.
Ms Hemi was electrocuted, but her sister, who was holding her son "miraculously" survived.
