A man electrocuted when he was working on power lines near Hokitika yesterday was a Briton working in New Zealand.
Martin Johns Southworth, 37, who had most recently been working in Huntly, came from Lancashire, Sergeant Mark Berryman of Hokitika police said today.
Mr Southworth died after coming into contact with a live circuit about 11.30am yesterday.
Investigations are being carried out by Occupational Safety and Health and the police.
