KEY POINTS:
PSA Peugeot Citroen and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) have announced a study on a technical collaboration for electric powertrains, relating to the development, manufacture and use of an electric powertrain for small urban vehicles.
The agreement reinforces the bonds between the two manufacturers, which recently laid the first stone of a joint Russian factory, in Kaluga, 180km south-west of Moscow.
MMC has prioritised development of the i MiEV new-generation electric vehicle for market introduction.
MMC has also set up Lithium Energy Japan, a joint venture founded with GS Yuasa and Mitsubishi Corporation, which is to supply large capacity and high-performance lithium ion batteries for the i MiEV.
