While most New Zealanders have had their say in the next Government, those who cast special votes are yet to be included in the election tally.
The Electoral Commission said there were an estimated 240,247 special declaration votes yet to be counted, accounting for 10.7 per cent of the total vote. They include an estimated 19,527 overseas votes.
Last night's results, which gave National 60 seats and Labour 34, were based on the 2,014,334 votes counted yesterday.
The official results process, which starts today, is expected to be completed in 14 days, and the commission aims to release all results by December 10.
Special votes will be particularly important in the Christchurch Central electorate, where National's Nicky Wagner and Labour's Brendon Burns tied with 10,493 votes each.
