An elderly woman has been left with serious injuries after being attacked by three dogs in Christchurch.

St John were alerted to the incident around 4pm Monday and sent a ambulance to a Spreydon house.
St John spokesman Ian Henderson says the patient, in her early 70s,
was taken to Christchurch Hospital ED with serious injuries.

The victim today is in a "comfortable" condition, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The three dogs involved in the attack have been seized by the Christchurch City Council.

They will be held by the council's dog control unit until a decision on prosecution is made.
