An elderly woman is in a critical condition at Middlemore Hospital after a car ploughed into the bus shelter she was waiting in with her two grandchildren in Auckland yesterday.
The four-wheel drive was travelling along Great South Rd in Manurewa about 4.30pm yesterday when it lost control and crashed into the shelter on the corner of Halsey St, a police spokesman said.
The woman was taken to hospital with critical injuries and her two grandchildren, the driver of the car and a passenger were also taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The woman is now in a critical but stable condition.
