KEY POINTS:
An elderly woman is dead and a man is seriously ill in hospital after a two-car collision in Hamilton last night.
Senior Sergeant Graham Shields of Hamilton police said the accident happened about 7.50pm on Kahikatea Drive.
The 75-year-old woman and the 37-year-old injured man were driving the cars.
The woman died at the scene and the man was taken to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.
Mr Shields said the woman's name would be released after her family were notified.
