KEY POINTS:
An elderly woman is dead after the car she was in crashed into a tree in the Auckland suburb of Glenfield yesterday.
Sergeant Matthew Granich of North Shore police said the 80-year-old was a passenger in the car.
The accident happened about 10:30am and there were no other cars involved, Mr Granich said.
The driver, an elderly man, was taken to North Shore Hospital with serious injuries.
