An Oamaru woman in her 80s was bitten on the arm in a dog attack.
Constable Mark Haythorne said the woman was attacked by the dog about 2.30pm yesterday.
"An old lady was taking a stroll on Usk St, and a dog that was not on a leash has attacked her and she has been injured as a result."
Although Mr Haythorne could not comment on the seriousness of the woman's injuries he said she was bitten on her right arm and suffered a cut to her head.
The owner of the dog, thought to be a Labrador cross, had been traced and the incident referred to Waitaki District Council, he said
