The elderly Wellington woman missing after going for a run yesterday has been found safe.
Marilyn Gammie was last seen in the Waiwhetu area of Lower Hutt.
She went for a run and was expected back at 5pm.
Search parties with tracker dogs and family members resumed the hunt forher this morning but it was called off around 9am after a member of the public found the woman 1km from her home.
Police thanked the person who found her, as well as the public, LandSar volunteers and Upper Hutt community rescue for their help in the search.
Police and Land Search and Rescue Volunteers from Wellington searched throughout the night, focusing on the area around Tyndall St, including roads and waterways around Te Whiti Park and the Eastern Hills Scenic Reserve.
More police staff and volunteer land search and rescue staff from Wellington, Wairarapa, and Horowhenua continued the search from first light today.
