An elderly man who was missing in a forest overnight near Wanganui has been found safe and well.
A police spokeswoman said the 70-year-old man went missing yesterday after he was planting trees in the Taunoka forest.
The spokeswoman said the man walked up to a search and rescue team at 1.45 this afternoon, and "showed up safe and sound".
He was uninjured and did not require any medical attention.
The man was trying to keep up with other forestry workers but stopped for a rest. By the time they came back for him he was missing.
