An elderly man was flown to Whangarei Hospital yesterday after being trapped by a piece of timber for about 24 hours on a property in Northland.
A spokesman for the Auckland Westpac rescue helicopter said the man was in his 70s and appeared to have become pinned while doing some work on Saturday.
The helicopter was called to the site just north of Dargaville at 11.20am yesterday. It is understood the man been trapped for about 24 hours.
He was in a serious condition and had crush injuries, the spokesman said.
