An elderly man was airlifted to hospital after a tractor ran him over north of Auckland yesterday.
The Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust transported the man, aged in his 80s, to Middlemore Hospital about 5.20pm after the incident in Warkworth, 60km north of Auckland.
Intensive care flight paramedic Russell Clark treated the man, and said he believed he had fallen from the tractor before it ran him over.
"When we arrived the patient was at the top of a field and his tractor had rolled down to the bottom. How he received his injuries is unknown, but it is possible he fell off the tractor and it has then rolled over him."
The man was transported in a critical condition.
