Elderly man missing in Wellington overnight found

Shuyou Lin, 82, had been reported missing around 3pm yesterday.

An elderly man who went missing in Wellington overnight has been found.

Police officers, dogs and Search and Rescue teams were searching for Shuyou Lin, who was last seen at his home on The Terrace at 3pm yesterday.

Police said the 82-year-old was spotted by a member of the public on Ghuznee St the central city this morning.

He had been taken to hospital for a medical assessment.

Temperatures were chilly in Wellington overnight with a low of 8C forecast.

Police had been focusing their search in the Botanic Gardens, where Lin had been known to walk.

Police thanked all those who provided assistance and information during the search.
