KEY POINTS:
An elderly man is dead after a two-car crash in the Bay of Plenty today.
Acting Senior Sergeant Andrew O'Reilly of Opotiki police said the accident happened between Opape and Torere, near Opotiki, about 9.45am.
A 72-year-old man from Waimana, 27km southeast of Whakatane, was killed.
Mr O'Reilly said the man's name would be released tomorrow.
