A Wairarapa man in his 80s was last night in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital with moderate injuries from a road crash near Pirinoa on Sunday.
The crash happened shortly before 1pm when the elderly woman driver lost control of the car in which the man was a passenger.
Masterton police Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr said the driver failed to negotiate a bend on Lake Ferry Road near Pirinoa and the vehicle rolled a short distance down a bank.
The driver was unable to remember any details of the crash and had been taken to Wairarapa Hospital with extensive bruising. Her condition yesterday was satisfactory.
The elderly male passenger received moderate injuries in the crash that were not life-threatening, Mr Burr said.
