An elderly man has been hospitalised after being assaulted in his Pakuranga home in the early hours of this morning.
The man, who is believed to be around 85-years-old, is understood to have been attacked by several people.
However, police were unable to confirm the number of people involved in the incident.
Sergeant Grant Mumby said police were alerted to the incident at 2.48 and were currently carrying out an investigation.
"CIB are at that address conducting a scene examination and that will likely go through until late afternoon," he said.
