Police are investigating whether the death of an elderly man, who was found dead in his bed with what appeared to be a head injury, is suspicious.
Emergency services were called to a property in the Hamilton suburb of Forest Lake about 1.25pm and discovered the body of the man.
Hamilton police said they needed to wait for the results of a post-mortem examination and complete a scene search before they could determine whether the death was suspicious.
"Because of a number of unknown factors this unexplained death will be treated as suspicious until such time as a search of the scene and post-mortem examination can determine otherwise."
