An elderly Christchurch man has died following a road crash in the city last week.
Police said 82-year-old Northwood resident John Palmer Allan died at Christchurch Hospital yesterday. He was critically injured in the crash.
"Mr Allan was the driver and sole occupant of a Suzuki hatchback, which was struck by a truck and trailer unit on Johns Road, at 10.25am on Thursday, 24 October.
"Police inquiries indicate that the car was turning from Connemara Drive into Johns Rd - State Highway 1- but appears to have failed to give way to the truck travelling west on Johns Rd," police said.
