Elderly lose accommodation as resthome closed

Napier's Parkside resthome has effectively been closed by health authorities, forcing 17 elderly patients to find new homes.

The jobs of 35 to 40 staff are now uncertain.

The Hawkes Bay District Health Board would not specify its reasons for ending the contract, but said the resthome had not moved quickly enough to resolve problems identified last year in a Health Ministry audit.
