A man aged about 80 has been rescued after a night in his car stranded in a Central Hawke's Bay farm paddock.
Sergeant Ross Gilbert, of Waipukurau, said the man, from Hastings, was discovered in the car this morning.
Emergency services were called to the farm off Bush Rd, Wallingford, just before 8am and were told the vehicle had left the road and crashed through a fence into the paddock early on Sunday night.
The man had been unable to get the car out of the paddock and stayed with the vehicle overnight, Mr Gilbert said.
He was apparently uninjured but was taken by the St John Ambulance Service to the Medical Centre in Hastings "for a check-over."
