A vehicle stolen from an elderly Waikanae couple who were bashed in their home has been recovered.
The couple needed hospital treatment after the incident on Monday evening.
The Honda Accord stolen after the couple were assaulted was recovered overnight and would undergo a forensic examination today.
Police had begun a scene examination at the property and hoped to gain further details about the offenders once they spoke to the couple this morning.
"We have had an excellent response from the public, particularly the local community, who have come forward with information and we want to thank them for that," said Detective Senior Sergeant Grant Ferguson.
