The Eketahuna-laden Wellington women's rugby team have had a disrupted build-up to their NPC match against Otago in Dunedin this Saturday.
A training session was planned for Wellington on Monday night but the snow on the Rimutakas meant it had to be called off.
That led in turn to the announcement of the starting line-up for the Dunedin match being delayed until after another training run planned for last night.
The new skipper, Black Fern Rebecca Mahoney, is one of seven Eketahuna players in the Wellington squad and is "pretty sure" fellow backs Tatiana Tafatu, Maia Tua-Davidson, Shakira Baker and Heidi Whitman and forwards Emma Aldworth and Shaan Waru will join her in the run-on team.
Mahoney sees the result of Saturday's match as being crucial to Wellington's chances of challenging strongly for a grand final berth in early September.
Just one full round of matches is being played before the top two teams on the points table meet in the decider and while little is known about the composition or strength of the Otago team for Saturday, history suggests they should be one of the weaker sides.
That said, Mahoney is aware of the dangers of taking anything for granted in sport, especially since Wellington themselves were winless last season and will be going into Saturday's game with limited preparation.
"There are too many unknown factors to be too confident about anything, all we can do is play as well as we can and trust that is good enough," Mahoney said.
The full NPC draw for the Wellington team is: July 30 v Otago in Dunedin, August 6 v Auckland in Auckland, August 13 v Manawatu at venue to be confirmed, August 20 v Hawke's Bay in Napier, August 27, v Canterbury at venue to be confirmed.
