New chums Eketahuna will take on defending champions Harcourts when the opening series of matches in Netball Wairarapa's premier one championship is played at the Colombo Rd courts in Masterton tomorrow.
It's a huge ask for Eketahuna who had tongues wagging with their unbeaten run in the premier one/premier reserve grading round series, but they look sure to be competitive against a Harcourts combination who also went through the grading round without defeat.
The accuracy and athleticism of goal shoot Christine Harvey is clearly one of Eketahuna's greatest attributes and it will be interesting to see the tactics applied by Harcourts to nullify her influence. The smart money would be on them looking to dominate the midcourt action so the amount of quality ball delivered to Harvey is limited.
Grading round form would suggest Wairarapa College A should have too many guns for Baywide Gladstone and Celtic likewise for St Matthew's Collegiate but while Pioneer Blue will probably start favourites against Carterton New World Vipers, this clash could go either way.
