KEY POINTS:
An eight-year-old boy is dead after falling off a truck in Mahia, northern Hawke's Bay, tonight.
Emergency services were called to the accident about 5.30pm, Senior Sergeant Tony Gibson of Gisborne police said.
The boy was believed to have died at the scene.
The serious crash unit was investigating.
