Eight properties in Marlborough have been identified as being too badly damaged to be entered.

Another 32 have been yellow-stickered by Civil Defence, meaning initial assessment indicates parts of the buildings are unsafe to enter - while a further 91 have been given a white sticker.

Bucket showers were installed at Ward today and hot showers have been available for the first time since the earthquake.

In Blenheim, householders reliant on septic tanks are advised to get them checked as damage may not be immediately obvious.

Attempts to remove loose material from a large ship blocking the Awatere Valley Rd was interrupted by bad weather today.

It is not known when this slip will be cleared.

Thirteen people were evacuated from the Ure River area after an inspection by a Civil Defence helicopter team this morning revealed the debris slips in the region posed a risk to nearby properties.

Blenheim-based airline Sounds Air is introducing commercial flights from Blenheim to Kaikoura on Monday, and one of the first flights will be carrying two tonnes of mail, the first mail into the town since the road closed.

St John continues to co-ordinate its earthquake response in Canterbury, Kaikoura and surrounding areas.
