An out-of-control 18th birthday party in Kamo, Whangarei, saw eight people arrested after neighbours called police early Saturday morning.
Constable Andrew Ivey of Whangarei police said they received a number of calls around 1.30am, with reports of people fighting.
He said about 200 people had turned up at the party and the hosts had tried to shut it down.
"It turned a bit ugly and spilled out on to the street."
When police arrived they were pelted with bottles.
Mr Ivey said eight people were arrested and charged with breaching the peace and disorderly behaviour.
