Eight arrested after gang probe

Dunedin police have arrested eight people following a six-month investigation into the activities of the Mongrel Mob.

Operation Rocket has focussed on key members of the gang and its hierarchy in Dunedin and Mataura in Southland.

The eight members face a wide range of charges, including participation in an organised crime enterprise, conspiracy to supply cannabis and over 50 charges of selling cannabis.

Police say today's arrests are a step forward in reducing the presence of illegal drugs in Dunedin.
