One Creme Egg, as our story on p5 today reports, would take an 80kg adult 13 minutes of running to burn off.
It's been a while since I've eaten a Creme Egg, which is just as well, because it's been even longer since I ran for 13 minutes.
But Ishould probably be going for a jog around Henley Lake come Easter weekend anyway because I am really quite fond of hot cross buns and those wee Cadbury eggs filled with Turkish delight.
But presuming those things are enjoyed as an Easter treat, and not something eaten every day, I think there's no point worrying a great deal about the calories.
What does bother me about Easter eggs is the packaging.
I saw a boxed package of those Turkish delight eggs at the supermarket the other day, and thought I might buy it as a treat.
The box could have held an egg the size of a rugby ball, and a few other chocolates besides - but when I picked it up and gave it a shake, it felt like there was nothing in it.
On checking the fine print there was 250g of chocolate, but it was significantly bulked out with cardboard and plastic packaging.
Easter eggs now seem to be almost as much about the branding as the chocolate - with far more varieties than the standard chocolate egg with buttons inside from my childhood.
Seems to me though most kids will still enjoy eating them more than looking at the packaging.
