Problems which affected the eftpos system following yesterday's devastating earthquake in Christchurch have been resolved and the network is now fully operational, says Paymark.
Eftpos in Christchurch would be subject to power outages and damage to equipment, a Paymark spokeswoman said.
Paymark was working with Christchurch retailers to provide support by providing mobile eftpos machines for businesses unable to connect to the network, or operating from temporary premises.
A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck Christchurch yesterday at 12.51pm.
There have been numerous strong aftershocks since. At least 75 people have died, with the toll expected to rise.
