Primary school children in earthquake-hit Kaikoura returned to school and a sense of normality today.
Kaikoura Primary reopened this morning for the first time since the magnitude 7.8 earthquake on November 14.
Principal Nigel Easson said not all 82 pupils are back just yet - but they're not far off.
He said school staff called every family to check who would be back, and about 70-80 per cent said they would be in today.
The day started with a discussion between staff, parents and children about the tumultuous past fortnight.
