Two John Paul College students have wowed judges at the regional final of the United Nations Speech Contest in Tauranga this month.
John Paul College was represented at the Bay of Plenty final by Year 13 drama captain Elsie Spiers and Year 12 student Olivia Temm.
Both performed impressive speeches, with Elsie gaining first place and Olivia third.
Elsie received a trophy and certificate plus direct entry to the national finals, which will be a highlight of the United Nations Association of New Zealand National Conference in Wellington at the end of June.
The high-profile annual event involving secondary schools from across New Zealand was hosted by the Bay of Plenty Branch of the United Nations Association of New Zealand.
