Ebay is warning online people not to be fooled by a bogus email which appears as an invoice for a purchase they have supposedly made.
Sian Kennedy, spokeswoman for the online auction operator, said eBay would never ask customers to click on a link to change personal information.
Nor would the site ask for personal financial information via email, she said.
Ms Kennedy said people should change their online passwords and upgrade to a safe browser.
