A key question in the trial of Easy Rider owner Gloria Davis is her knowledge of the safety issues surrounding the vessel.
Davis is facing a number of charges relating to the 2012 sinking of the fishing boat off Stewart Island, resulting in eight deaths.
Whether Davis knew the condition of the ship prior to it leaving Bluff appears to be the key question in working out whether she is culpable.
Grant Levy from Maritime New Zealand told the court in Invercargill yesterday that he had discussed the issues with skipper Rewai Karetai.
But under cross examination he admitted he hadn't spoken personally to Davis.
