KEY POINTS:
A Featherston man who died after his car hit a tree just north of Greytown early yesterday morning was discovered by a passing motorist who stopped to look at the view.
Police have named the man as Raymond Tuigamala, 22.
Sergeant Chris Megaw said it appeared Mr Tuigamala lost control on a bend as he was travelling north in the early hours of yesterday morning.
His car hit a tree and rolled down a bank.
"The bank was not very high, probably about two metres, but because of the position of the car, and the colour of it, it was obscured from view," Mr Megaw said.
A person who stopped to look at an old farmhouse nearby discovered the car about 3pm.
The weekend road toll remained at three today.
A collision between a campervan and a Hilux Surf towing a boat in Blenheim about 9am yesterday claimed the life of a 23-year-old man.
Three were left critically injured.
In Pukekohe, a 22-year-old man died after the motorbike he was riding left the road in the township south of Auckland.
Police said the accident happened on Station Rd about 2.30pm yesterday.
The man's name has yet to be released.
