"The after-hours service based at Masterton Medical practice will be open over Easter, and if your condition is not an emergency and could be dealt with by a general practitioner or practice nurse, this is where you should go in the first instance.
"And importantly, don't leave things until they are an emergency. If you are concerned, get it checked out by a GP in a timely way, don't leave it until night time," she said.
The ACC data showed loss of balance was the most common cause of injury during the 2014 Easter break in Wairarapa. There were 47 claims made for loss of balance, 14 for slipping and 24 for injuries sustained after claimants were struck by a person or animal.
Nationally, there were 17,905 injury claims made over the four days of Easter in 2014.
The most claims were from injuries which on the second day of the Easter break which totalled 5365 claims, equating to $4,596,924 in claim costs.
This was a significant drop from the second day of Easter in 2013 when there were 6174 claims.
ACC spokeswoman Suzanne Muth said the number of claims made in the Easter holiday were no higher than the rest of the year but that didn't mean people should let their guards down.
"We don't really see any differences in the number of claims we receive on Easter and any other day which is probably good because it means that people are still mindful while they are at home and enjoying themselves, whether they are on an Easter egg hunt or just relaxing," she said.
"The numbers seem to be around the average number of claims that we receive each year, so anywhere between three thousand and five and a half thousand per day."
People were encouraged to take caution and keep in mind that home injuries were just as likely as injuries sustained out and about, the spokeswoman said.
"A lot of accidents do happen at home. People need to be wary of risks especially when they are at home where they feel safe so don't pay as much attention as when they are driving or when they are at work.
"Especially with a lot of people going away over the Easter break it also pays to take extra care on the roads," she said.
