The Easter road toll stands at two after a man died after an allegedly stolen car crashed in Wellington overnight.
The crash happened on Fraser Avenue about 1.45am in the suburb of Johnsonville, police said.
The driver of the Subaru stationwagon, which was earlier allegedly stolen from a nearby address, was killed in the accident as the car overturned. Three other occupants were injured in the crash.
The serious crash unit was investigating but speed and alcohol were believed to have been a factor.
Police are yet to identify the dead man, described as being in his teens or early twenties.
The accident comes after a 50-year-old man was killed after his motorcycle and a vehicle towing a horse float collided north of Wairoa, northern Hawke's Bay about 6pm yesterday.
