KEY POINTS:
The Earthrace trimaran is limping towards Singapore for major repairs after hitting flotsam that damaged the port driveshaft.
The biodiesel-powered New Zealand boat struck debris, probably a floating tree trunk, soon after leaving a refuelling stop on Saturday - day 34 of its round-the-world record bid - in Kolor, Palau, powerboatworld.com reported.
The boat's ground crew, including engineer Tino de Freitas, were due to arrive in Singapore yesterday to prepare for the repairs.
Earthrace is expected on Friday.
