An earthquake has struck north of White Island late last night.
The magnitude 4.7 quake shook a spot 110 kilometres north of White Island around 11.25pm, GeoNet said, at a depth of 25km.
The organisation originally put the strength of the earthquake at magnitude 4.9, but this was later downgraded.
