KEY POINTS:
An earthquake measuring 3.6 on the Richter scale struck 10km north-east of Upper Hutt last night.
The quake has so far generated 73 reports on the GNS website, including a report from as far north as Taupo.
The quake had a focal depth of 30km and struck at 8.51pm.
