An earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale has been felt between Te Kaha on the east coast and Wellington.
The quake struck at 5.20am yesterday morning, 170km north-east of White Island.
The GNS website had received 22 reports from towns around the east coast and Wellington by this morning.
