An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale rattled southern Hawke's Bay early this afternoon, Geological and Nuclear Sciences reported.
The quake, centred 30km south of Waipukurau at a depth of 25km, was recorded at 12.55pm.
No damage was reported.
