KEY POINTS:
People in the lower North Island were jolted by a moderate earthquake this morning.
GNS Science said the tremor, which hit at 8.49am, measured 5.1 in magnitude.
It was centred 60km north of Porirua and was 50km deep.
GNS said the quake was felt widely across the lower North Island and upper South Island.
