Hundreds of hungry diners walked away with a free bacon and egg McMuffin during a breakfast celebration at McDonald's Family Restaurant in Masterton yesterday.
Manager Robert Hintz said Masterton staff had handed out more than 800 of the McMuffins as part of a celebration of 20 years of serving breakfast in New Zealand.
The Chapel St diner yesterday joined 129 other McDonald's restaurants across the country to each hand out up to 1000 of the McMuffins from 7am to 10am.
He said a steady stream of early risers had kept an expanded crew of restaurant workers busy throughout the giveaway, which also included vouchers for upcoming breakfast deals and giveaways.
Representatives from radio stations in the region also had been on hand at the celebration under the golden arches, he said, and younger diners were treated to prizes of toys and vouchers as well.
