KEY POINTS:
An "exhibition of love" travelled from Australia to New Zealand and is on display from today in Hamilton.
Pe-ac-ed with Love, a collection of quilts made by the families of war veterans, is on display to show that the cost of war does not stop when a soldier comes home.
Margaret Rehorn, national project co-ordinator for the exhibition, said the project was special because it was designed to recognise the carers' of war veterans.
"War doesn't stop when the soldier comes home, it stays with the family and goes into second and third generations."
Each quilt in the exhibition was made by a group of family members related to a veteran - the youngest quilter was 16 and the oldest now 92.
The exhibition at the Claudelands Event Centre runs until Sunday.
