E-passports for air travellers a step closer

Electronic passports for air travellers are a step closer.

The Customs Service and Auckland International Airport have issued a request for information from companies that can supply electronic equipment to read the e-passports which Internal Affairs plans to introduce soon.

A trial of the new equipment is expected to start next year.
