A dying cancer patient who eluded armed police for 12 days in June has failed in his bid for bail.
Tifiga Atanoa, 33, has been in custody since he was arrested on June 9.
Awaiting a hearing on firearms and driving charges, he appeared in Manukau District Court today asking to be let out on bail. The request was refused after police opposition.
His lawyer Peter Kaye said after the hearing that he would apply to the High Court within the next two weeks for bail.
