KEY POINTS:
The Commerce Commission has refused to grant clearance to duty-free operator DFS Group to buy rival Regency Duty Free.
The commission said it was not satisfied that the proposed purchase would not substantially lessen competition in duty-free retailing at Auckland Airport.
Next month, DFS Group will become the sole duty-free retailer at Auckland Airport, shutting out the other existing retailer, Regency Duty Free.
