A Rotorua couple has appeared in Rotorua District Court facing a raft of benefit fraud charges relating to offences spanning more than 15 years.
Norman Deane Manuriki Cole, 59, has not entered pleas to 25 charges of defrauding Work and Income by using various documents to obtain social welfare benefits between October 1995 and December 2010 at Huntly, Ngaruawahia, Taupo and Rotorua.
His partner Jacquilynne Hiria Mahara, aka Jacquilynne Hiria Turner, 46, has not entered pleas to 25 charges of defrauding Work and Income by using various documents to obtain social welfare benefits and two charges of aiding Cole to commit similar offences.
Judge Oke Blaikie remanded the couple on bail to appear in court again on October 23.
