A Dunedin retailer has slammed legislation which will force him to drop "tobacconist" from his store name.
Selwyn Grave Men's Hairdresser and Tobacconist will be forced to lose "tobacconist" later this year after the Smokefree Environment (Controls and Enforcement) Amendment Bill passed in Parliament last week, The Otago Daily Times reported.
Mr Grave said it was "ridiculous" that he had to change the store's 48-year-old trading name.
He said he should be able to use "tobacconist" because it described what his store sold.
